Food Coloring Tie-Dye
Have some fun with this easy-to-make food coloring tie-dye!
YOU'LL NEED:
- A water bottle(s) with a squeeze cap (or you can use a recycled shampoo bottle)
- Food coloring
- Water
Fill bottle (must have a squeeze cap) with a 1/2 cup of water and approximately 8 drops of food coloring.
Use a different water bottle for each color of tie-dye you make. Or, rinse thoroughly and reuse.
Once the tie-dye solution is ready, follow these steps to turn your plain white T-shirt into a colorful masterpiece.
- Use a large bowl or bucket and mix one part water with one part vinegar—soak the fabric for one hour. Then, wring the T-shirt.
- Choose your tie-dye design! Roll the T-shirt and tie three or four elastic bands around the fabric, or pinch it together in the middle and secure with an elastic band to create a spiral design.
- Use the squirt bottle to stain a different area of the T-shirt with different colors.
- Once the T-shirt is completely covered, place it in a resealable plastic bag overnight.
Memorial Day Handprint Wreath
Create this patriotic wreath to hang on your door this Memorial Day!
- Trace your hand several times on red, white and blue paper (or you can use white paper and color the handprints).
- Use scissors to cut out each handprint. Then, cut out the center of a paper plate (you can also create your own outer rim with construction paper or cardboard).
- Arrange and glue the red, white and blue handprints on the rim of the paper plate.
Coffee Filter Stained Glass
Have some fun with this colorful "stained glass" art project! We recommend doing this activity outside, or on a washable surface.
What you need: Coffee Filters | Washable Markers | Spray Bottle (With Water) | Sharpie (Optional)
- Color as much of the coffee filter as you can with different colored markers. You can also use a sharpie to draw an outline of an object to color (butterfly, tree, etc.). The sharpie will not bleed once water is added.
- Once you're finished coloring, use a spray bottle to spray the colored coffee filter with water (the more water you spray, the more the colors will blend together).
- Let it dry over night. Once it's dry, hang it in front of your window!
3-Ingredient Strawberry Ice Cream
2 cups frozen strawberries | 1 banana (not frozen) | 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
- Combine all three ingredients in a blender/food processor, or place in a bowl and use an electric mixer. Blend until smooth.
- Scoop into a bowl or cup and add your favorite toppings! YUM!
Recipe is for 1-2 servings.
