The Vera Meineke Nature Center at Spring Valley is an earth-sheltered, passive-solar natural history museum and visitor center.

Hours of Operation (Nov. 1-March 31)

  • Nature Center: Daily: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Grounds & Trails: Daily, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

General Information

The Vera Meineke Nature Center includes interactive exhibits on local plants and animals, a children’s activity area, library, and living turtle pond display. Adjacent to the Nature Center is a Learning Garden, Backyards for Wildlife display, and a new Monarch Rearing & Education Station. The Monarch Rearing Station operates from May – September and includes daily butterfly releases, weather permitting.

The Nature Center also provides information on programs and events, program registration, restrooms, and a gift sale area.
