Barracuda Swim Team

Schaumburg CANThe Schaumburg Park District Barracuda Swim Team is a multi-level program offering opportunities for competition and skill development to all swimmers. New members are always welcome. Practices are held at Schaumburg High School. Ages are used as guidelines. Different skill groups are available. Fees vary by group and number of practice days per week. Beginners

Introduction to competitive swimming with a focus on stroke mechanics. Participants must be able to swim 50 yards. Swimmers must attend three meets during the season. Last week of the session will be used to evaluate swimmers for placement next season.

Intermediate Swimmers

Swimmers must be able to swim 50 yards in all four competitive strokes. Practice will be about 1500 yards with a focus on technique and increasing endurance. Swimmers must attend three meets during the season. Last week of the session will be used to evaluate swimmers for placement next season.

Advanced

Swimmers must be able to swim 100 yards of each competitive stroke continuously. Practices will be 2000 yards with a focus on endurance, speed and higher competition. Swimmers must attend three meets during the season. Last week of the session will be used to determine placement for next season and eligibility for USA SWIMMING TEAM with coach’s recommendation.

USA Swimming Team

Participants need a strong background in training and stroke mechanics in all four strokes and a strong commitment to compete. Workouts will be 3000-5000 yards a practice and constructed for varying age groups. Must attend minimum of four practices a week and two USA SWIMMING/ISI swim meets a season. Dual/conference meets are optional.

Fall Session (Sept. 14 to Nov. 20)

NEW SWIMMER TRYOUTS: Aug. 3, 2015 · 4 to 6 p.m. · Community Recreation Center/The Water Works

Swimmers will get in the water and be evaluated by swim coaches.

RETURNING SWIMMER REGISTRATION: Sept. 1, 2015 · 6 to 8 p.m. · Community Recreation Center 

Online and mail-in registration are not available for Barracudas. Registrants must bring in two checks to register. For all groups there is a team fee of $40 for one swimmer and $10 for each additional swimmer. Practice schedules will be distributed at registration. All participants must register before they are allowed to swim. Illinois Swimming, Inc. (ISI) or Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) membership is required. Late registration is subject to availability.
