Programs & Classes

**Due to a renovation project, The Water Works entrance and concessions will be closed starting Aug. 1.  Swim lesson participants will be emailed entry instructions before the session begins. All other patrons will need to use the north entrance.

Schaumburg Tennis Plus offers a two-tier tennis program to develop any age and level of junior player. The goal of the tennis lesson program is to nurture a love of the game and provide a foundation of sound mechanics for students. Ages listed are an average age range for each level. Some students of higher ability levels may be capable of playing with older students. If this applies to you, it is mandatory to receive permission from the tennis director before enrolling. Regardless of your level, you will be challenged to attain success.

Schaumburg 10 and Under Junior Development Pathway

The Schaumburg 10 and Under Junior Development Pathway is designed to introduce players to tennis, develop mechanics, and teach basic court positioning and keeping score. Age appropriate courts and balls will be used. These classes are a fun introduction to tennis.

Schaumburg High School Varsity Pathway

The Schaumburg High School Varsity Pathway is designed to have players learn tennis so that they can succeed on their high school varsity team. Classes incorporate technical instruction, footwork drills and competitive games to help players achieve their tennis goals.

Schaumburg Tennis Academy

The Schaumburg Tennis Academy is designed for training players who participate in USTA tournaments. Drills are designed around live ball hitting, competing and stress footwork, shot selection and intensity.

  • Academy I is for 10 and Under orange ball players.
  • Academy II is for green and yellow ball sectional tournament players.
  • Academy Select is for sectional and national tournament players.

All Academy players must be evaluated by the tennis director. Players in Academy II and Academy Select are expected to compete twice monthly in USTA tournaments.

Youth Tennis Lessons

  • Tiny Tennis (ages 4-6) - Program is for the true beginner to tennis. Motor skills and hand-eye-coordination are the primary focus. Beginning stroke mechanics will be introduced on the forehand, backhand and serve. Age appropriate equipment will be used. Classes taught on a 36’ court.
  • Aces 1 (ages 6-8) - Program is for the true beginner to tennis. Motor skills and hand-eye-coordination are the primary focus. Beginning stroke mechanics will be introduced on the forehand, backhand and serve. Age appropriate equipment will be used. All 6 year olds must have completed one session of Tiny Tennis. Classes taught on a 36’ court.
  • Futures (ages 8-10) - Class is designed for the player with a basic understanding of stroke mechanics. This player is beginning to rally and movement to the ball is improving. Stroke mechanics on the backhand, forehand and serve will be reinforced. Age appropriate equipment will be used. Classes taught on a 60’ court.
  • Challenger (ages 10-13) - Class is designed for the player with a basic understanding of stroke mechanics. This player is beginning to move to the ball and contact has improved. Stroke mechanics on the backhand, forehand and serve will be reinforced. All 10 year olds must have completed one session of Futures.
  • High School Prep (ages 13-15) - This class is designed for the junior high/high school age player. The program is a perfect fit for those desiring to keep his/her game tuned up in the off season. Drills will be designed around stroke execution along with improvement of the serve. Point play is also a regular training component. This is a live ball class.
  • High School Comp (ages 14-18) - This class is designed for the middle/high school age player who is a rising freshman or currently plays on their high school JV team. The program is a perfect fit for those desiring to keep his/her game tuned up in the off season. Drills will be designed around stroke execution along with improvement of the serve. Point play is also a regular training component. This is a live ball class. An evaluation is required.
  • High School Team (ages 14-18) - The program is designed for players who compete in a high school varsity program in the top six positions or play state level tournaments. Drills will be designed around point construction. This is a competitive program. An evaluation is required.

Adult Lessons

  • Adult Level 1 - Designed for players just getting back into tennis or the new player looking to learn how to play. This program covers all strokes and players will be given the skills to begin playing right away. This program will consist of stroke mechanics and positioning for singles and doubles. NTRP rating 2.0-3.0
  • Adult Level 2 - Class is designed to help players refine their current knowledge of the game. This program will consist of mechanics, strategy and court positioning. Players in this program may begin playing on USTA and local travel leagues. NTRP rating 3.0-3.5
