Dec. 28, 2008: Holiday Wonderland Festival - The Community Recreation Center is the spot for carnival-like fun at the Holiday Wonderland Festival. Regular Go Show contributor Kristy Paukner is on site to play games, ride the Christmas choo-choo and visit with Santa Claus.
Dec. 12, 2008: Holidays at Woodfield - Communications Director Pat Casler talking with Woodfield Marketing Specialist Brighid Brown at Woodfield Mall. The two talk holiday decorations, activities and more.
Dec. 12, 2008: Holiday Greetings - The Schaumburg Park District offered the opportunity to record holiday greetings at the Schaumburg Business Expo in late October. See who's wishing you well this holiday season.
Dec. 12, 2008: Indoor Triathlon - Communications Coordinator Josh Hendricks is on site to detail the happenings of the inaugural Indoor Sprint Triathlon held at the Community Recreation Center. The first-time event featured a 10-minute swim, 15-minute bike ride and 15-minute run.
Nov. 26, 2008: Turkey Talk at Heritage Farm - Turkey time hits the Schaumburg Park District as Pat Casler, director of communications and corporate relations, visits Spring Valley's Heritage Farm for a talk with Patty Kennedy, farm program coordinator, about the area's resident turkeys.
Nov. 26, 2008: Hoghouse to Smokehouse - Manager of Spring Valley Dave Brooks takes us on a tour of an authentic portrayal of how traditional 1880s farm families preserved meat raised for consumption throughout the winter months in addition to explaining traditional food preservation in general.
Nov. 14, 2008: Earl M. Jorgensen Metals - Schaumburg Park District Executive Director Jean Schlinkmann takes us on a tour of Earle M. Jorgensen Metals, a subsidiary of Reliance Steel and Aluminum Company, located at 1900 Mitchell Blvd. in Schaumburg. It is one of the largest metals service center companies in the United States, providing value-added metals processing services.
Nov. 14. 2008: Recreation Equipment Inc. (REI) - Director of Communications and Corporate Relations Pat Casler gets into the outdoor spirit with a trip to REI, a premier outdoor gear store located at 1209 E. Golf Road in Schaumburg.
Oct. 9, 2008: Mr. Fix It - Schaumburg Park District Executive Director Jean Schlinkmann sits down with "Mr. Fix It" James Dolbeare. Dolbeare, a plan commissioner for the Village of Schaumburg and a founding member of the SBA, discusses appliance repair and home safety in addition to the fascinating history of AAA Appliance Service Center.
Oct. 9, 2008: SBA Expo - Schaumburg Park District Executive Director and Go! Show Host Jean Schlinkmann visits with Schaumburg Business Association Program Director Andrea Biwar and Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel & Convention Center General Manager Thomas Robertson about the upcoming SBA Expo to be held Oct. 29 at the Renaissance.
Sept. 17, 2008: The Finer Line, Inc. Engraving Shoppe - Director of Communications and Corporate Relations Pat Casler takes us on a tour of The Finer Line, Inc. The engraving shoppe was a trophy sponsor for the Links Technology Cup Golf Outing. The Cup underwent a rigourous makeover by The Finer Line to become the glimmering spectacle that was hoisted by the winners of the annual golf outing on Aug. 13, 2008.
Aug. 18, 2008: Links Technology Golf Outing - The inaugural Links Technology Cup Golf Outing was held Aug. 13, 2008 at Schaumburg Golf Club. The outing benefit the Schaumburg Park Foundation. Check out who won the outing, the Daily Herald Shootout and the Woodfield Putt of the Day.
June 15, 2008: Doug Cummings Interview - In more than 17 years as a crime and breaking news reporter for the former WMAQ Radio and then WGN Radio in Chicago, Doug Cummings received awards for his coverage of dozens of stories including murders, train crashes, fires, school shootings and tornadoes. The reporter-turned-author is the writer of the highly-acclaimed Reno McCarthy crime novels.
June 15, 2008: Improve Your Gas Mileage - Schaumburg Park District's George Grey visits with Steve Rode, managing partner of Firestone Auto Care, to learn fuel efficiency tips. Topics include tire pressure, wheel alignment, air filter, proper oil viscosity, fuel filter, etc.
June 15, 2008: Mowing and Mooing - High summer is a great time to get out to Spring Valley Nature Sanctuary and experience Mowing and Mooing. Watch the draft horses mow the hay field, help with the harvest, take a hay ride, churn butter, make farmer’s cheese, milk the cow or take part in other offered activities. Homemade ice cream at Volkening Heritage Farm completes the experience.
